We stopped at the Mangy Moose in Riverside for lunch which was quite good. We pushed on through Walden, Kremmling and Green River and got soaked in a rain storm, a fitting finale to a weather plagued trip. We arrived in Summit County at 7:45 PM. Trip over. All in all we made the best of it and had a good time.</div><br /><div>Next trip is to San Carlos MX and the Copper Canyon May-June 2010.</div></div></div></div>Joe Mchttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08947706982558303457noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9118278580146718449.post-55495196255025096132009-01-31T16:04:00.000-08:002009-02-19T16:59:06.175-08:00West Cody WY to East Cody WY June 22<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiqfYenRXy5bEIMtBdJHw7su3xyFih75eyNu2SCFrBmfvNpTTXMAt43UgYrgQadr9vCLEG9RArbUiyvOtENS8iBDbAHAZKPlDRjQfnOtMkoWA_CWXr15A4NeRvzknZ9gD9cbuJS-ZrcGwA/s1600-h/Photoshow+pics+June+2008+559.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5297614847479595602" style="WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 240px" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiqfYenRXy5bEIMtBdJHw7su3xyFih75eyNu2SCFrBmfvNpTTXMAt43UgYrgQadr9vCLEG9RArbUiyvOtENS8iBDbAHAZKPlDRjQfnOtMkoWA_CWXr15A4NeRvzknZ9gD9cbuJS-ZrcGwA/s320/Photoshow+pics+June+2008+559.jpg" border="0" /></a><br /><div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgrljCeIqUHA9OCNe42jVAQjdWShD362_HpBCp1lDoPweglcwawsS1ZYODs1spi9kbHnv4BtZccRhgGYukC1YgABw2NrGiwxXZm37VcvTrYpPmZkvX7Hss-vno2JR4WU4tI79AA2itlSbQ/s1600-h/Photoshow+pics+June+2008+556.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5297614841830304514" style="WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 240px" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgrljCeIqUHA9OCNe42jVAQjdWShD362_HpBCp1lDoPweglcwawsS1ZYODs1spi9kbHnv4BtZccRhgGYukC1YgABw2NrGiwxXZm37VcvTrYpPmZkvX7Hss-vno2JR4WU4tI79AA2itlSbQ/s320/Photoshow+pics+June+2008+556.jpg" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjXHrkx27wUOyzhf19KsSblJhniztPe8syTDoE6pilra6BYG3Oay1AEfp3im-hmiD8kE7eVckRS3VyKBzYRBjP1_Hcw8sD7z2otPUvoBniLK0V0vabDerKO5Gaf44PBR1d-vbhvhTO8OVU/s1600-h/Photoshow+pics+June+2008+555.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5297614839430830770" style="WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 240px" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjXHrkx27wUOyzhf19KsSblJhniztPe8syTDoE6pilra6BYG3Oay1AEfp3im-hmiD8kE7eVckRS3VyKBzYRBjP1_Hcw8sD7z2otPUvoBniLK0V0vabDerKO5Gaf44PBR1d-vbhvhTO8OVU/s320/Photoshow+pics+June+2008+555.jpg" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><br /><div>Well we don't make it out of Cody. Tom's bike breaks and on the recommendation of the local bike shop, their mechanic was not on duty, we take it to be fixed at the home of a gentleman who lives nearby and spend the day at the Buffalo Bill Museum which proved to be most interesting. Late afternoon the bike is fixed and we check in to the Cody Motel (very nice) in preparation for a morning departure.</div></div></div>Joe Mchttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08947706982558303457noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9118278580146718449.post-35086116874529724562009-01-31T15:40:00.001-08:002009-01-31T15:57:41.648-08:00Gardiner MT to Yellowstone N.P. to Cody WY June 21<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiACq5JxQaTmD1thLdLVys-q-yD2s3v3eZjU8HST4o-z984-qgN_KwsPx6TiAydfrsYmtqSw259WS0KwydiB5PiIzn7TyjcKPPfITOvHBpDY3sOLwRHYc2ExONi7Pa87efnc1JXL49vAjY/s1600-h/Photoshow+pics+June+2008+551.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5297611217343678834" style="WIDTH: 320px; Yellowstone is spectacular, there is much to see and do. I have been here twice and there is still more to see.If you haven't been there yet then by all means make plans to do so. Don't miss it. We left the park via Route 14, a beautiful and scenic road and arrived in Cody approximately 6:00PM and checked in to the Super 8. I do not recommend staying here. We had issues with the hot water (none) and the staff (very rude) refused to address them and did not offer another room saying they were sold out. We dined at Maxwell's, friendly service, terrible food. Thunderbolt Harley Davidson in Butte deserves plaudits for their cordial, prompt, reasonable and quality service. Our delay was minimal due to these friendly folks. Well I-90 is the only game in town ( I detest Interstates) as far as getting to our destination which is now Gardiner MT the north gateway to Yellowstone. The ride on I-90 was unremarkable but the ride on Hwy 89 south made up for it. The scenery was most impressive and Gardiner proved to be a neat and friendly town. We checked in to the Yellowstone River Motel (clean, reasonable)walked over and had a few drinks at the Devil's Slide tavern (nice) and then over to the Two Bit Saloon (also nice)and had grilled buffalo steak (excellent) delivered from Raven's an outdoor grill adjacent to the saloon. Tomorrow we tour Yellowstone. </div></div></div></div></div>Joe Mchttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08947706982558303457noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9118278580146718449.post-46543033815287463942009-01-31T15:11:00.000-08:002009-02-19T16:54:55.583-08:00Coeur d'Alene ID to Butte MT June 19<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhBJZ2mQWjAO9k05qEQT39v9BUGYOBFBn_b5ufC9fxgYVIFJSjzQKpw_Btn8Z0_Bi3b3GgXnGcyuptrTvUO8rxt1J6CwEDRUfyrqAv8UZEDsGWlh7d87YT41a4k4qFyvfcAUrGiPZ2sHFQ/s1600-h/Photoshow+pics+June+2008+443.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5297602132192779682" style="FLOAT: right; MARGIN: 0px 0px 10px 10px; WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 240px" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhBJZ2mQWjAO9k05qEQT39v9BUGYOBFBn_b5ufC9fxgYVIFJSjzQKpw_Btn8Z0_Bi3b3GgXnGcyuptrTvUO8rxt1J6CwEDRUfyrqAv8UZEDsGWlh7d87YT41a4k4qFyvfcAUrGiPZ2sHFQ/s320/Photoshow+pics+June+2008+443.jpg" border="0" /></a><br /><div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhBrNg9m6aGUmJ4oiFU1XT608v4UgExXI1C2aPSDOLDQbXMEP6eTyfHTAasM8vUp0Hi75XgyR1YpMw-eKevYOvjx_Cl0_tKdeDw8XRSkn6kWYf7J34Be-DOyHBHYdg55JOR5oz4JXT8yyc/s1600-h/Photoshow+pics+June+2008+439.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5297602127748855938" style="FLOAT: right; MARGIN: 0px 0px 10px 10px; WIDTH: 301px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 240px" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhBrNg9m6aGUmJ4oiFU1XT608v4UgExXI1C2aPSDOLDQbXMEP6eTyfHTAasM8vUp0Hi75XgyR1YpMw-eKevYOvjx_Cl0_tKdeDw8XRSkn6kWYf7J34Be-DOyHBHYdg55JOR5oz4JXT8yyc/s320/Photoshow+pics+June+2008+439.jpg" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><div>Plans have changed. Logan Pass is closed due to snow. Scratch Glacier NP. We will head for Yellowstone NP which is now completely open. We proceeded east on I-90 (I detest riding Interstates and try to avoid them) with the intent of making it to Gardiner MT, the north entrance to Yellowstone NP but plans changed again when Ed's bike broke down necessitating a 'tow' to the Harley Davidson dealer in Butte. The bike will be repaired tomorrow. Butte itself is a dump. While exploring for a restaurant we found that 'downtown' was shabby and uninviting so we came back towards our hotel and had dinner at the Derby Casino which was just 'OK'. The Comfort Inn however was very good with a courteous and helpful staff.</div><br /><br /><div>Sorry Butte but ya gotta clean up your act.</div></div>Joe Mchttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08947706982558303457noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9118278580146718449.post-17686667691796024012009-01-31T14:56:00.000-08:002009-02-19T16:51:06.263-08:00Burlington WA to Coeur d'Alene ID June 18<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjqD8BsNY-qoYzn9Uxq9v32UaBiJmwSmG7UtZdmSx3JcRYALGWzMPnnQe2ZZvLHoU7Kv_co3mS2V-ihQK6-bjmPNZOTF7MCj6or_G4ObVzNr6lPY502gDMdRuSU0wnKiPUGGoueRTmVSco/s1600-h/Photoshow+pics+June+2008+432.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5297597643572003938" style="FLOAT: right; MARGIN: 0px 0px 10px 10px; WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 240px" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjqD8BsNY-qoYzn9Uxq9v32UaBiJmwSmG7UtZdmSx3JcRYALGWzMPnnQe2ZZvLHoU7Kv_co3mS2V-ihQK6-bjmPNZOTF7MCj6or_G4ObVzNr6lPY502gDMdRuSU0wnKiPUGGoueRTmVSco/s320/Photoshow+pics+June+2008+432.jpg" border="0" /></a><br /><div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgJKUdt-QpDVVDmkqslj-tLDVNUydjAxNFq3AK3hl2dEFolFAinlILpCfELg1S_4Tb8NE5rugGQX_fY01dVy_YzWOqJ-ukeDqthkmcNaod3FyirLtOMihZAYfSMd4mUmBdu7OboW1iJrgY/s1600-h/Photoshow+pics+June+2008+423.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5297597642284602338" style="FLOAT: right; MARGIN: 0px 0px 10px 10px; WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 240px" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgJKUdt-QpDVVDmkqslj-tLDVNUydjAxNFq3AK3hl2dEFolFAinlILpCfELg1S_4Tb8NE5rugGQX_fY01dVy_YzWOqJ-ukeDqthkmcNaod3FyirLtOMihZAYfSMd4mUmBdu7OboW1iJrgY/s320/Photoshow+pics+June+2008+423.jpg" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiw1REdjOZnK2UQVi9UU3L5b9jwdzn0x87ujDRkJIxsqTjTgSHUnGYlh3isnVPg725SqayRhIBu-kgPmOTShm3Sx4j4bcOzvEqH26Frx-h7lnH3QBSJBtxAHcGqcN1WkddCH4y6SIvRgqg/s1600-h/Photoshow+pics+June+2008+418.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5297597637512282050" style="FLOAT: right; MARGIN: 0px 0px 10px 10px; WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 240px" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiw1REdjOZnK2UQVi9UU3L5b9jwdzn0x87ujDRkJIxsqTjTgSHUnGYlh3isnVPg725SqayRhIBu-kgPmOTShm3Sx4j4bcOzvEqH26Frx-h7lnH3QBSJBtxAHcGqcN1WkddCH4y6SIvRgqg/s320/Photoshow+pics+June+2008+418.jpg" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><br /><div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjmCIT2XK2L03H3V_QiOydQsgQLl0ZLInYCeW5phkcC8aMnDx1Wlt2ANiBFGx4KEC0RxgfQBi7R7KNirDwZYMY5LC4a9ZJ-wAL_I_6EVXI5vxS_TnkOK4iVNtoSpYw-8qXe_uu9YHb2m6I/s1600-h/Photoshow+pics+June+2008+416.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5297597630517779682" style="FLOAT: right; MARGIN: 0px 0px 10px 10px; WIDTH: 277px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 240px" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjmCIT2XK2L03H3V_QiOydQsgQLl0ZLInYCeW5phkcC8aMnDx1Wlt2ANiBFGx4KEC0RxgfQBi7R7KNirDwZYMY5LC4a9ZJ-wAL_I_6EVXI5vxS_TnkOK4iVNtoSpYw-8qXe_uu9YHb2m6I/s320/Photoshow+pics+June+2008+416.jpg" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><br /><br /><div>Departed Burlington early A.M. on WA 20 east, a beautiful and scenic ride which took us through North Cascades N.P. This portion of our trip however turned out to be the coldest with temps in the mid to high thirties. BRRR! Coming out of/down from the Cascades we stopped in Winthrop, a town with an old western motif for coffee and pastry at the Rocking Horse Bakery. Excellent don't miss it the pastries and muffins are all baked fresh. Nothing like a hot coffee and a hot muffin after a cold ride. We pushed on through Twisp, a neat orderly town, and took WA 163 south to US 97 at Pateros and north on 97 to Brewster to WA 173 which morphs in to WA 174 at the Chief Joseph Dam near Bridgeport and stopped to see the Grand Coulee Dam an awesome and remarkable feat of engineering. After visiting the dam we rode WA 174 to US 2 at Wilbur and east to Spokane where we picked up I-90(yuk)east to Coeur d'Alene and checked in to the Silver Lake Inn which proved to be clean and reasonable with restaurants within walking distance. We will check the WX tonight for tomorrow's conditions up in Glacier NP. Hopefully they will be favorable. </div></div></div></div>Joe Mchttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08947706982558303457noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9118278580146718449.post-63003933550551433102009-01-31T14:45:00.000-08:002009-02-19T16:47:29.174-08:00Port Angeles WA to Burlington WA June 17<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhWdGgftaU_m2CMnqCkUzx_BY11Fok2Y4YRFYXYaNXQ5snecsQrgvWc2UBzkBlf8AZGX-7jLNeUvXUih2yGmapZq1-v34aVVi4HLeMS-vJIpPv9Xw9-mc9tBdl4tWXfVHjN63ORBZMwKxg/s1600-h/Photoshow+pics+June+2008+386.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5297594400748976994" style="FLOAT: right; MARGIN: 0px 0px 10px 10px; WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 240px" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhWdGgftaU_m2CMnqCkUzx_BY11Fok2Y4YRFYXYaNXQ5snecsQrgvWc2UBzkBlf8AZGX-7jLNeUvXUih2yGmapZq1-v34aVVi4HLeMS-vJIpPv9Xw9-mc9tBdl4tWXfVHjN63ORBZMwKxg/s320/Photoshow+pics+June+2008+386.jpg" border="0" /></a><br /><div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhUGADnExohVfGk3jDlW-J2ExANwShZInS9kWJziY-MXxlqisWA46Dw4WEOes_ELf7wWQonNamfEhXdGfH_MY-ey1aa3RRNBvIwXlTNJ4vPfaHz1AWxeutKEAl__jj5Hg9pwPmL1e_GyXo/s1600-h/Photoshow+pics+June+2008+399.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5297594396528753330" style="FLOAT: right; MARGIN: 0px 0px 10px 10px; WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 240px" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhUGADnExohVfGk3jDlW-J2ExANwShZInS9kWJziY-MXxlqisWA46Dw4WEOes_ELf7wWQonNamfEhXdGfH_MY-ey1aa3RRNBvIwXlTNJ4vPfaHz1AWxeutKEAl__jj5Hg9pwPmL1e_GyXo/s320/Photoshow+pics+June+2008+399.jpg" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg1vzF1DAFfa7ZTOMplEjd1w7mdVngpfIaUgMoUa43TNemJKV-UpwPN6RA23ZK7thl6bauKLEWa-uhlmjbE9Z0cXJg4NQnCNenfPnmT7neTZYbDfpCIXsHwxk5VDwV8eXOrEYpomRFTrbg/s1600-h/Photoshow+pics+June+2008+397.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5297594383898677394" style="FLOAT: right; MARGIN: 0px 0px 10px 10px; WIDTH: 300px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 240px" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg1vzF1DAFfa7ZTOMplEjd1w7mdVngpfIaUgMoUa43TNemJKV-UpwPN6RA23ZK7thl6bauKLEWa-uhlmjbE9Z0cXJg4NQnCNenfPnmT7neTZYbDfpCIXsHwxk5VDwV8eXOrEYpomRFTrbg/s320/Photoshow+pics+June+2008+397.jpg" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><br /><div>Plans have changed. After a couple of hours touring the rainforest we headed north back through Forks to Neah Bay to the Cape Loop road and to Cape Flattery where we hiked the last 3/4 mile to the overlook. The views of the water caves and Tatoosh Island are not to be missed. Next stop Port Angeles checked in to the Portside Inn (nice, reasonable) and had dinner at Bushwhackers a steak house within walking distance, which proved to be excellent. Tomorrow is decision day.Do we head north to Victoria,Whistler, Jasper and Banff?? The scenery on this portion of US 101 is unremarkable with only short glimpses of the shoreline. Stopped in South Bend, a quaint fishing village and had coffee and muffins (terrific!!!) at the local bakery which I cannot remember the name of. We took the WA 105 loop through Grayland and were not impressed. Back on US 101 we rode up to Forks with plans to visit the Hoh Rainforest in the morning. Checked in to the Pacific Inn Motel (nice, clean, reasonable)and had dinner at the Inn Place which was on the premises.</div><div>Let me preface my next comment by stating that it is my nature to tell it like it is. I wish to pass on my experiences to other riders in the hope that it will be of help to them should they plan a ride through the areas I have visited. This trip was not all "peaches and cream" and any not so good(in my experience) venues, lodging, restaurants etc. will be reported here as I experienced it.That being said, we dined at the Inn Place and found the server very nice and the food very bad. Small portions, big prices, unimaginative cooking(translate that=no taste). It stunk! Big time.</div></div></div>Joe Mchttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08947706982558303457noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9118278580146718449.post-103869440275722422009-01-27T15:22:00.001-08:002009-01-27T16:05:53.826-08:00Coos Bay OR to Astoria OR<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhgTPsnrmwveQtYBNJVSL0wmj-SC8QECqB2Ta7UEHvhehFCmaZ6ZorhHLzG4LBZNAKVJLI6F1Yybb72SjKfhJUfP8sVSm9vQxaG-5y3p89W3Z8nPTSYGG_riYXcxrcciP6mtoNDG6uSoh4/s1600-h/Photoshow+pics+June+2008+313.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5296119622076065650" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 240px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhgTPsnrmwveQtYBNJVSL0wmj-SC8QECqB2Ta7UEHvhehFCmaZ6ZorhHLzG4LBZNAKVJLI6F1Yybb72SjKfhJUfP8sVSm9vQxaG-5y3p89W3Z8nPTSYGG_riYXcxrcciP6mtoNDG6uSoh4/s320/Photoshow+pics+June+2008+313.jpg" border="0" /></a><br /><div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh03wgGaZ1G5tHaXq2yYeKPriLjiNHJ64cMtfmBuKumOsE8EMknTcOkAYasdtQG8dTEkfTVGpDW6Iw8-waMUFntB5D-h9KxaKvKwOUXSp0D0HGTxQJMr_1Lk0cHFmPTkZkzmdmskSc5ark/s1600-h/Photoshow+pics+June+2008+306.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5296119055099460050" style="FLOAT: right; MARGIN: 0px 0px 10px 10px; WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 240px" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh03wgGaZ1G5tHaXq2yYeKPriLjiNHJ64cMtfmBuKumOsE8EMknTcOkAYasdtQG8dTEkfTVGpDW6Iw8-waMUFntB5D-h9KxaKvKwOUXSp0D0HGTxQJMr_1Lk0cHFmPTkZkzmdmskSc5ark/s320/Photoshow+pics+June+2008+306.jpg" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhgFHXYbqlc2r3_yNHI9E4nprcMpUMvCQzTyUctvp1lS2FmfL12rKnKm0h9nODZVnZGQAzd9HxW9EW_D9NXXS6pD8x4boYJWJhuPEbSZaXHCLBtcwWGAbFlBvw5my7W5sXVv7PXZqFAepg/s1600-h/Photoshow+pics+June+2008+307.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5296118663919667346" style="FLOAT: left; MARGIN: 0px 10px 10px 0px; WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 240px" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhgFHXYbqlc2r3_yNHI9E4nprcMpUMvCQzTyUctvp1lS2FmfL12rKnKm0h9nODZVnZGQAzd9HxW9EW_D9NXXS6pD8x4boYJWJhuPEbSZaXHCLBtcwWGAbFlBvw5my7W5sXVv7PXZqFAepg/s320/Photoshow+pics+June+2008+307.jpg" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><br /><div>Cold WX today. Both Eureka an Arcata are very nice, neat towns but what was a glaring fact was the amount of indigent/homeless people and for lack of a better description they looked like the hippies of the 60's. Headed north through Redwoods NP/SP, nice but although larger they don't seem to have the 'character' of the Sequoias. The vegetation was quite interesting though. North through Crescent City and the Oregon coast. California's northern coast while pretty pales in comparison to Oregon's. Gold Beach and Pistol Creek are must sees. The Super 8 Arcata was reasonable and clean, I recommend it. </div></div>Joe Mchttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08947706982558303457noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9118278580146718449.post-61898278895228717632009-01-27T12:50:00.000-08:002009-02-19T16:32:58.803-08:00Christmas Valley OR to Klamath Falls OR<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiiFImxOYHnv6_7SKI0Ap9CY6sDYsVsJyNEtP_X-OEFFNZ0dxkzqyAPpOHMIwIeg6ZV5hrxAtYFPE5gW93v-pO-fITYVwXynwYrNWAtS-bkXTH_D8v6MpjA4rPq-84XRuyVadd7CfCdIfQ/s1600-h/Photoshow+pics+June+2008+231.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5296080800692344114" style="FLOAT: right; MARGIN: 0px 0px 10px 10px; WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 240px" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiiFImxOYHnv6_7SKI0Ap9CY6sDYsVsJyNEtP_X-OEFFNZ0dxkzqyAPpOHMIwIeg6ZV5hrxAtYFPE5gW93v-pO-fITYVwXynwYrNWAtS-bkXTH_D8v6MpjA4rPq-84XRuyVadd7CfCdIfQ/s320/Photoshow+pics+June+2008+231.jpg" border="0" /></a><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhJ-DWwR8-QPlpU7WJpc9692Enek2T9FVVjVeyrIhsMs7eRqELWAyfvI0rAYCTGbwEfUBqqDhEKHCBJQciqI4cEzlBWe2dqcD0cJAqWN3Kz5lLgFak2kEMvRt4MZ26fe436F2u8gvIpH14/s1600-h/Photoshow+pics+June+2008+222.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5296080199082528226" style="FLOAT: right; MARGIN: 0px 0px 10px 10px; WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 240px" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhJ-DWwR8-QPlpU7WJpc9692Enek2T9FVVjVeyrIhsMs7eRqELWAyfvI0rAYCTGbwEfUBqqDhEKHCBJQciqI4cEzlBWe2dqcD0cJAqWN3Kz5lLgFak2kEMvRt4MZ26fe436F2u8gvIpH14/s320/Photoshow+pics+June+2008+222.jpg" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><div><br /><br /><br /><br /><div></div><div></div><div></div><div></div><div></div><div></div><div></div><div></div><div></div><div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgz9yt1jQm6UfmiifxrIes8T7Y5knRu6hqlqQOgSHXBRSUoVtUPzOafQmJmn3usQoPLvfI2iD9lep8vMhxEtLXWXg_9bzeEkhzM-qSvTh8-2tWxCaabz-7tFkwKS0g35rfKXnmc0T2AhRE/s1600-h/Photoshow+pics+June+2008+227.jpg"></a></div><div></div><div></div><div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgz9yt1jQm6UfmiifxrIes8T7Y5knRu6hqlqQOgSHXBRSUoVtUPzOafQmJmn3usQoPLvfI2iD9lep8vMhxEtLXWXg_9bzeEkhzM-qSvTh8-2tWxCaabz-7tFkwKS0g35rfKXnmc0T2AhRE/s1600-h/Photoshow+pics+June+2008+227.jpg"></a></div><div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgz9yt1jQm6UfmiifxrIes8T7Y5knRu6hqlqQOgSHXBRSUoVtUPzOafQmJmn3usQoPLvfI2iD9lep8vMhxEtLXWXg_9bzeEkhzM-qSvTh8-2tWxCaabz-7tFkwKS0g35rfKXnmc0T2AhRE/s1600-h/Photoshow+pics+June+2008+227.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5296080177354129138" style="FLOAT: right; MARGIN: 0px 0px 10px 10px; WIDTH: 303px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 240px" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgz9yt1jQm6UfmiifxrIes8T7Y5knRu6hqlqQOgSHXBRSUoVtUPzOafQmJmn3usQoPLvfI2iD9lep8vMhxEtLXWXg_9bzeEkhzM-qSvTh8-2tWxCaabz-7tFkwKS0g35rfKXnmc0T2AhRE/s320/Photoshow+pics+June+2008+227.jpg" border="0" /></a></div><div></div><div></div><div>The ride from Christmas Valley to Route 97 is notable because of the great scenery. Hate to say it but it didn't start out bad in Boise but it didn't take long to become brutally cold as we progressed west. Hope the rumblings of mutiny don't surface. The ride between Vale OR (home of the Bates Motel) and Juntura OR where we stopped at a very nice and quaint restaurant, the Oasis (excellent food/service), was largely unremarkable except for some nice views of the Malheur River. We gassed up in Burns OR, a nondescript locale where the folks did not seem too friendly, and proceeded through Riley OR and south on Rte. 395 to Wagontire OR, a fairly recent or so it seemed, ghost town. Neat but spooky place. Took a few pics there and eased on through the eastern Oregon 'flatland' to Christmas Valley OR. Ever heard of it? Me neither! Small but friendly place. Checked in to the Desert Inn Motel(old but clean) and walked over to the Christmas Valley Inn for cocktails and dinner (food was very good). Stepped out in to the bar after dinner and mingled with the 'locals' and had a great time. Nice, friendly folks.</div><br /><br /><br /><div></div></div></div>Joe Mchttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08947706982558303457noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9118278580146718449.post-11746189134969555582009-01-26T17:35:00.000-08:002009-02-19T16:28:14.720-08:00Ketchum/Sun Valley to Boise June 9<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg3NXsXqgRILdJt_w7x9YyWkSCigyuPxC7zIV1GzEO1PBt1dMnf6bIVK7sRn237G456ggxks4rBcLYdfbHvJ1tsXz524dEb6Y1aL5V_GNVL9nWTG0FwEzMFtVUpOqOLA3H06bjCbH-t2uU/s1600-h/2008+Tom"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5295791349454831362" style="FLOAT: right; MARGIN: 0px 0px 10px 10px; WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 240px" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg3NXsXqgRILdJt_w7x9YyWkSCigyuPxC7zIV1GzEO1PBt1dMnf6bIVK7sRn237G456ggxks4rBcLYdfbHvJ1tsXz524dEb6Y1aL5V_GNVL9nWTG0FwEzMFtVUpOqOLA3H06bjCbH-t2uU/s320/2008+Tom%27s+Pics+054.jpg" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgbXrmqCuTm1Av8rqzAEnGPoMqbejvAn2u4m-N7NaXYC2U-oPllY3RqO5ptZ4Y84t4FfyKT5NXA9GZo_WNpg17SPWnql3kSJyAYaYBg8pKufWuecnapwVIzQTuUe1enDQeCDNfpRb5FYzQ/s1600-h/Photoshow+pics+June+2008+169.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5295788616640797314" style="FLOAT: right; MARGIN: 0px 0px 10px 10px; WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 240px" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgbXrmqCuTm1Av8rqzAEnGPoMqbejvAn2u4m-N7NaXYC2U-oPllY3RqO5ptZ4Y84t4FfyKT5NXA9GZo_WNpg17SPWnql3kSJyAYaYBg8pKufWuecnapwVIzQTuUe1enDQeCDNfpRb5FYzQ/s320/Photoshow+pics+June+2008+169.jpg" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><br /><div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg0CWTAqwmT4EFxyCRpFj_YOuW7iO_Lbzr5yOmXTcSgRmFyRpUQcqI4ae6dISi384vVvAxS_4EV6oJU0kN0h-tahKwmZjLzZtUzlxYwghSWkVxmN5__oRIQ6qch19xL-JvWIRTbep2PG1k/s1600-h/Photoshow+pics+June+2008+164.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5295785167371342434" style="FLOAT: right; MARGIN: 0px 0px 10px 10px; WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 240px" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg0CWTAqwmT4EFxyCRpFj_YOuW7iO_Lbzr5yOmXTcSgRmFyRpUQcqI4ae6dISi384vVvAxS_4EV6oJU0kN0h-tahKwmZjLzZtUzlxYwghSWkVxmN5__oRIQ6qch19xL-JvWIRTbep2PG1k/s320/Photoshow+pics+June+2008+164.jpg" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><br /><br /><div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjn6SaroTQk34zEWbcvaTTSr6JLp-6dLC2m7fiUbt84_2qzOfHdHARc5ZMGxH0RCEALjE2jffMFu6rxTURTarGG0ZOMUT3d2b0YnsznN20xgyUk8iTMn1fhKPDzWMf2CguckBy2noscxXA/s1600-h/Photoshow+pics+June+2008+153.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5295783330476550242" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 240px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjn6SaroTQk34zEWbcvaTTSr6JLp-6dLC2m7fiUbt84_2qzOfHdHARc5ZMGxH0RCEALjE2jffMFu6rxTURTarGG0ZOMUT3d2b0YnsznN20xgyUk8iTMn1fhKPDzWMf2CguckBy2noscxXA/s320/Photoshow+pics+June+2008+153.jpg" border="0" /></a><br /><br />Cold again today with 45mph winds for a little excitement. Headed north on ID75 through the Sawtooth N.R.A. the views were awesome, Idaho is indeed a pretty state. Stopped at Redfish Lake a beautiful area with terrific camping facilities (I camp out at Best Westerns, Marriots etc.). Stopped in Stanley and had lunch (and a pastry yum!) at the Stanley Bakery (excellent food and service). At Stanley we took ID 21 south which provide us with some more awesome scenery. There are so many spectacular vistas etc. that I run out of adjectives to describe them. You will have to excuse me. Continuing south on ID21 to Idaho City where we had intended to stop at Trudy's but they had a recent fire there and were closed so instead we went for a few beers at Harley's Pub, a typical western bar with nice folks inside. WX had been so bad over the last few days that there were rumblings of mutiny i.e. "I'm sick and tired of this f#!+ing cold, rain and snow I'm going south and you guys can meet me back in CO". Plans may change. Eased on in to Boise ( in the rain...of course)and checked in at the Inn of America (very nice and also reasonable). After dinner and drinks the rebellion was quelled and we went to bed with plans to continue on our original itinerary.<br /><br /></div></div></div>Joe Mchttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08947706982558303457noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9118278580146718449.post-6074091961637625042009-01-25T16:43:00.000-08:002009-02-19T16:21:37.889-08:00Jackson to Sun Valley/Ketchum June 8<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiZNyQXjL_WxfinQM0t8ikFMD-YgH_XdB-culG4OIR1Syi7Uj2mFXpYDN06InyYLx0h7dds-lbTYj9Uz8bJjWd8tLtpMjWgHIGT6WYcve3LX2KQtPmtc92atEWtq0py80qC3kSGJj4QWGw/s1600-h/Photoshow+pics+June+2008+129.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5295407029136865138" style="FLOAT: right; MARGIN: 0px 0px 10px 10px; WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 240px" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiZNyQXjL_WxfinQM0t8ikFMD-YgH_XdB-culG4OIR1Syi7Uj2mFXpYDN06InyYLx0h7dds-lbTYj9Uz8bJjWd8tLtpMjWgHIGT6WYcve3LX2KQtPmtc92atEWtq0py80qC3kSGJj4QWGw/s320/Photoshow+pics+June+2008+129.jpg" border="0" /></a><br /><div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgJl2TK05p9ORrsY7MywQ7qIhtLy4418k-iLZ6Jv1sUiYKq6Y-pkyL01beatI4KbX9LLrWBTtwwgvlMJdnZkcuXyTf-FDsROr54JrffVFJzBLm3Htd1bEy44jwlHKCQ1hXaqGrRKcgw3mU/s1600-h/Photoshow+pics+June+2008+120.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5295407028469061858" style="FLOAT: right; MARGIN: 0px 0px 10px 10px; WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 240px" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgJl2TK05p9ORrsY7MywQ7qIhtLy4418k-iLZ6Jv1sUiYKq6Y-pkyL01beatI4KbX9LLrWBTtwwgvlMJdnZkcuXyTf-FDsROr54JrffVFJzBLm3Htd1bEy44jwlHKCQ1hXaqGrRKcgw3mU/s320/Photoshow+pics+June+2008+120.jpg" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEigz9tFPabbJjO9VcU3o2DPVQBI4iDLduSFKdpxqPbKDHBuuDHiieywvZwHHtd9GGaetX5aSOJoXumCDUEjnmr6bTYPNiz1zGAcpg8yMOlyGogBLqm434zmsEFN8drgKR4FXuUFX7L6tqQ/s1600-h/Photoshow+pics+June+2008+101.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5295399604629569522" style="FLOAT: right; MARGIN: 0px 0px 10px 10px; WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 240px" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEigz9tFPabbJjO9VcU3o2DPVQBI4iDLduSFKdpxqPbKDHBuuDHiieywvZwHHtd9GGaetX5aSOJoXumCDUEjnmr6bTYPNiz1zGAcpg8yMOlyGogBLqm434zmsEFN8drgKR4FXuUFX7L6tqQ/s320/Photoshow+pics+June+2008+101.jpg" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><br /><div>The WX is cold this morning so we delayed our departure until 10:00 AM. It didn't help.Riding conditions are miserable. We left on Route 22 out of Jackson which morphed in to Route 33 in Idaho passing over Teton Pass which was quite scenic but cold and snowy.Folks after looking at the picture (sans bikes) asked if we were on snowmobiles!</div><br /><br /><div>At Victor we picked up Route 31 to Swan Valley, a very neat farming community, then headed west on Route 26 to Idaho Falls, a scruffy looking town, we then proceeded west on Route 20 to Arco where we stopped for lunch at Pickles Cafe which was very good. After lunch we stopped at Craters of the Moon National Monument and took some photos of the lava beds. Sort of reminds one of moonscape.Heading west again we pick up Route 75 north to Hailey (nice) and to Ketchum/ Sun Valley. We rode around and checked out the area and inquired as to where Hemingway's home is and was answered, very vaguely on more than one occasion I might add, with "over there a ways". I got the feeling that they don't want the 'touristas' traipsing around and gawking at the home where Hemingway did himself in. It is now my understanding that it is a private home. I guess I can't blame them.We checked in to the Best Western Kentwood (excellent) and dined at the Pioneer Saloon a very nice steak house with excellent food. I give it 5 stars(for what that's worth!).The Ketchum/Sun Valley area is beautiful and upscale. We enjoyed it immensely.</div></div></div>Joe Mchttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08947706982558303457noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9118278580146718449.post-59763686150781253662009-01-24T13:29:00.000-08:002009-02-19T16:16:20.452-08:00June 7 Rock Springs to Jackson<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhcKEOMpqLj1Ajzs9BPKHNTeZznag18rDGvEa2b4_upbP8FwJgr3BerDs2A5Nbl8VfvFaijInk0nELTGwwKzcq7dLhs0ZwnnMNvPjpzrUmuvJoy1Fv8QkcdTyWIKWWHVxHwh2omPukb6yI/s1600-h/Photoshow+pics+June+2008+082.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5294983278512733362" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 240px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhcKEOMpqLj1Ajzs9BPKHNTeZznag18rDGvEa2b4_upbP8FwJgr3BerDs2A5Nbl8VfvFaijInk0nELTGwwKzcq7dLhs0ZwnnMNvPjpzrUmuvJoy1Fv8QkcdTyWIKWWHVxHwh2omPukb6yI/s320/Photoshow+pics+June+2008+082.jpg" border="0" /></a><br /><div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgjCkngrP85jHiQddI4SXngmPiINPcfj_v4XTHNlqA6MC1f-dmJ-57QQETHBFZdaPoqLYfhFP5l-d3bkcdymJwxzwNkZYPWbkS8Izz-tOIIkg3-jjAwCe6H8MMncJeRjADolPordz2DX8U/s1600-h/2008+Tom"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5294981566191967426" style="FLOAT: left; MARGIN: 0px 10px 10px 0px; WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 240px" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgjCkngrP85jHiQddI4SXngmPiINPcfj_v4XTHNlqA6MC1f-dmJ-57QQETHBFZdaPoqLYfhFP5l-d3bkcdymJwxzwNkZYPWbkS8Izz-tOIIkg3-jjAwCe6H8MMncJeRjADolPordz2DX8U/s320/2008+Tom%27s+Pics+021.jpg" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><br /><div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiQgghvNwMJe-fkD8Lnj9tykYydPUw_gBiVI5Cl9akXi_BaK427HdITWRJz84XpLaGh9Gzr_JB-jVVPc6mWHeW05BMa9tUrGAnH-ahmbfI4MX92abJ98LK-rOXzCRE2WXvvLtdHQlexisQ/s1600-h/Photoshow+pics+June+2008+064.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5294980131324772210" style="FLOAT: right; MARGIN: 0px 0px 10px 10px; WIDTH: 287px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 240px" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiQgghvNwMJe-fkD8Lnj9tykYydPUw_gBiVI5Cl9akXi_BaK427HdITWRJz84XpLaGh9Gzr_JB-jVVPc6mWHeW05BMa9tUrGAnH-ahmbfI4MX92abJ98LK-rOXzCRE2WXvvLtdHQlexisQ/s320/Photoshow+pics+June+2008+064.jpg" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><br /><br /><div>Departed 10:45 AM temp in low 40's and headed north on Route191 passing through Eden, Farson and stopping for fuel (and soup brrrr) in Pinedale and on to the "Rim" where we encountered SNOW! We pushed on to Bondurant where the SNOW stopped and the ride to Hoback Jct. was scenic and more pleasant. We arrived in Jackson about 3:00 Pm and checked in to the Four Winds Motel ( reasonable and clean, not plush). After a late lunch/early dinner walked to over the Silver Dollar Saloon in the Wort Hotel for a few drinks and then the obligatory stop at the Million Dollar Cowboy Bar and back to the motel. It had been a long, cold 175 mile ride and the WX for the most part was atrocious. However, tomorrow is another day.</div></div><br /><br /><br /><p></p><br /><br /><br /><p></p></div>Joe Mchttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08947706982558303457noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9118278580146718449.post-234068715411218902009-01-23T16:25:00.000-08:002009-02-19T16:13:33.721-08:00June 6 Summit County CO to Rock Springs WY<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhlU3m95e63kr8T1a9hHkDYVt0QtoPr1ysO5h8pxIGRgDoMoy9O5NG8B51xCOriZCLx7tF9sWbWhVocIMBounpEnIRAglk6uPBGRW1EgbT1NIs-vutiwjhyphenhyphenrbLLaU0iv1lWQN7ou9mVAfU/s1600-h/Photoshow+pics+June+2008+057.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5294653779907329234" style="FLOAT: right; MARGIN: 0px 0px 10px 10px; WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 240px" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhlU3m95e63kr8T1a9hHkDYVt0QtoPr1ysO5h8pxIGRgDoMoy9O5NG8B51xCOriZCLx7tF9sWbWhVocIMBounpEnIRAglk6uPBGRW1EgbT1NIs-vutiwjhyphenhyphenrbLLaU0iv1lWQN7ou9mVAfU/s320/Photoshow+pics+June+2008+057.jpg" border="0" /></a><br /><div align="right"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh4OyS0-zrUphQd2JVieKu8qNRvVp2whrBU-wS0ZXovgCeq7DNRI583kqS_nLYqDeLBOqGV-ANpOQxuG9VQ72TLf_rIsKrCTdZo8u6KDGy964fdXuaUkY3jaLB7IpO1Yn5ly5-AWMegph0/s1600-h/Photoshow+pics+June+2008+055.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5294651296623636770" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 240px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh4OyS0-zrUphQd2JVieKu8qNRvVp2whrBU-wS0ZXovgCeq7DNRI583kqS_nLYqDeLBOqGV-ANpOQxuG9VQ72TLf_rIsKrCTdZo8u6KDGy964fdXuaUkY3jaLB7IpO1Yn5ly5-AWMegph0/s320/Photoshow+pics+June+2008+055.jpg" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><div align="left">Arise at 6 AM temp is 38 degrees. Brrrr! We delay our departure and after breakfast at the Mountain Lyon Cafe in Silverthorne we head north on CR 9 @9:30 AM.We pick up route #40 west at Kremmling and over Rabbit Ears pass where the temp dropped to the mid-30's at 9400 feet. There was snow everywere except on the road. From Steamboat Springs we continued west to Craig where we stopped for lunch at J.W. Snacks (pretty good). We rode north on CR 13 from Craig to the Wyoming state line where it morphed in to WY 789 passing through Baggs and Creston Jct at I-80 where the WX deteriorated and we donned our rain gear (damn cold now). We hopped on to I-80 and rode through intermittent showers to Rock Springs arriving at 5:30 PM where we stopped for the night. The lodging there seemed a little pricey for the area($97.00 for the Days Inn). We had dinner next door at Bombers (just 'good') where the locals had their girlfriends out on a Friday night throwing darts and shooting pool. Just what you might expect from a western cow town. Quite a show.</div></div>Joe Mchttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08947706982558303457noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9118278580146718449.post-22432934394153375822009-01-23T16:17:00.000-08:002009-02-19T16:09:39.852-08:00June 4 and 5<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjPWpYY3Fn2VwO13mluDqX0NCcogrDZq8TdGu_K9ZDhuBhVpJPEz5iFGmFbrh0E09kTkUoj7bv6ZU5U-yUDs99VdwTlBBz-oFGdgu40I171OiWMc4hT21Jy_oTvzmMbnGK-H3ocA-xbTAw/s1600-h/Photoshow+pics+June+2008+011.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5294648729768663666" style="FLOAT: right; MARGIN: 0px 0px 10px 10px; WIDTH: 280px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 240px" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjPWpYY3Fn2VwO13mluDqX0NCcogrDZq8TdGu_K9ZDhuBhVpJPEz5iFGmFbrh0E09kTkUoj7bv6ZU5U-yUDs99VdwTlBBz-oFGdgu40I171OiWMc4hT21Jy_oTvzmMbnGK-H3ocA-xbTAw/s320/Photoshow+pics+June+2008+011.jpg" border="0" /></a><br /><div>We arrived in Colorado on June 4 and our riding partners, Ed's brother Tom, and our friend John had flown in from CT having had their bikes shipped out earlier in May.We unloaded our bikes and gear in preparation for a morning departure. </div><br /><div>June 5 weather was not good.
